I think I initially liked Mekanism but somewhere along the way it felt too "vital" to really enjoy it. Its balance is completely different than most mods, and being constantly included everywhere makes you feel like you're intentionally restraining yourself by not using it.

This must be what it's like to be a politician receiving lobbying from a generous donor for his reelection in exchange for pushing forward tax reduction bills in the name of keeping industry in the state and increasing jobs.

It's a shame weather mods tend to be so FPS heavy, it's probably the most annoying vanilla mechanic but there's only one mod that attempts to add weather mechanics, and no pack adds it.

Then again most packs nowadays are focused around long term progression, and with the amount of time that usually takes people's bases would probably be craters by the end, as is the case with the old meteor mods that used to be popular.
