Upcoming Server
-
It is coming up on two months since our current Infinity Evolved normal mode server officially launched. As such, the staff team has discussed options for the next server pack. We have decided on an Infinity Evolved Skyblock pack, which is currently in production and we hope it will be finished soon. In the meantime, there are a few points we'd like to address before the next pack launches.
The current server will remain online for two months after the next server launches. You will still be able to play on the current server if you are not interested in playing on the Skyblock pack. There will also be a cross-server chat, so you can easily play and talk with your friends. After the two months are over, the server will be available for download and taken offline for good.
With the new pack being another version of Infinity, we have had some users request that the next pack be in expert mode. For those unfamiliar, this means much harder recipes, on top of it being a Skyblock server. To properly gage the interest, we've decided to create a poll. You are also welcome to voice any opinions, concerns, or suggestions in this thread. Again, keep in mind that the current server will still be available to play if you have no interest in the new server.
Poll is now closed, thank you to all who voted!

In my opinion why would people want to replay the same mod pack with the same crafting recipes and all thats changing is the map you play on. sure at first it would be all new and exciting but once you got mid-ish game it will just be the same thing all over again you in your base crafting the same items in the relatively same progression.

also expert mode enables a mod called avarita which makes some crazy end game items using 9x9 crafting.

Just to clarify, the current 1.7 server will be taken offline in two months? Or the Skyblock?
Will it be reset, are available to play on again? Or just removed?

My reasoning is that Ive already played expert twice, and I dont really have the time to sink into another expert mode server. But we shall see how the poll ends up

the current server will be taken offline about 2 months after the next server starts

replaced with a new server on a new pack so we always have only two servers online at once, the map will be available for download

Expert as skyblock is quite different since resources aren't an issue as soon as you automate sifting, but if you don't like it, that's fine the current server will stay online and when that one goes down another server (probably on 1.8) will come up.

I was looking forward to Horizons or something new why Infinity again?

You're not wrong, it is kind of a burnout to play the same pack again. However, a Skyblock variation would be something unusual to play on. It's also a big reason we are discussing expert mode, because it would be a big change of pace as well as introducing new aspects to Infinity.
If Infinity cannot be released in a reasonable time frame, we will be forced to go with a different pack. In that scenario, we are happy to consider Horizons if that is what you're interested in. After the next server cycle is done, we will move to a 1.8 pack, so even if you are not interested in the Skyblock pack, you can continue to play on the current server until the next rotation.

I'm just worried. We've already lost people to burnout/boredom on the current Infinity. Another 2 months of it, most likely on expert mode seems like it would just make more people become bored. I know some people joined in the first place to get away from expert mode. I'll play whatever I'm given but I feel like more sense to have the skyblock replace the current Infinity server in another 2 months.

@Lathirex that's actually not a bad idea, I'll discuss that with the rest of the staff
