I'm sorry to have missed the period where the Kreation and Brass packs were active. I have been away from Minecraft for a while and missed the launch of Create - it's a fantastic mod.
Any plans to reintroduce a lighter tech pack like Brass again in future? To be honest these giant laggy kitchen sink packs and everything FTB have released after Infinity Evolved have left me completely cold. I tried out some of the Enigmatica packs on another server - bloat galore. If it has Botany or Draconic Evolution or Mystical Agriculture or any other Harry Potter crap like that in it, I'm just not interested.

If there's anything interesting in that space we'll probably try it out, but there aren't any immediate plans.
It's hard for us, these small packs like Brass and Kreation definitely have an audience but it's hard to reach those players, for the majority of our existing playerbase those packs just don't have enough to do. Also nothing is stopping you from playing on a bloated pack and just not using any of the mods you dislike.

Well, it depends on the pack, but 10 minute load times and rolling lag spikes from the insane memory bloat of 150 mods I'll never touch do tend to put a crimp on things. I've seen some really egregious packs where progression in a tech mod is gated by having to mess around with flowers and "mana steel" or concentrated pixie farts or whatever. The Enigmatica packs for example perform abysmally on my system compared to lighter packs, even after I wasted a couple of hours trying to optimise settings and troubleshooting all the cruft they shovel on.
I have been enjoying Engineer's Life 2 in single player, it's quite well put together and the changes it makes have good thematic sense - main complaint is that it doesn't include Create. I'm now starting to explore Fabric packs but from the looks of it they still have years of catching up to do.
